Cuba to pardon 2,000 prisoners

Cuba announced on Thursday that it would release 2,010 prisoners from jails on the island, state media reported. The move marks the second such amnesty this year as part of ongoing negotiations with the United States.

Cuba’s state-run Granma newspaper described the decision as a ‘humanitarian and sovereign gesture’.
