Vance to visit Hungary days before elections
US Vice President JD Vance will visit Budapest on 7 and 8 April for talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, the White House has confirmed. During the visit, Vance is also expected to deliver a speech on cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting comes shortly before Hungary’s parliamentary elections on 12 April.
Relations between Budapest and Washington have strengthened in recent months, underscored by the visit of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in February. In Budapest, he signed an agreement on support for the civilian nuclear programme and expressed backing for the Hungarian government.
President Donald Trump had already publicly endorsed Orban in March and urged voters to support him in the elections.
