US rescued airman from shot down F-15 fighter jet

The US military has rescued a  wounded officer who was a crew member of a downed plane in Iran, President Donald Trump confirmed on his social network Truth Social.

"The U.S. military conducted one of the most courageous search and rescue operations in U.S. history for one of our incredible officers, who is also a highly respected colonel, and who I am happy to report is now safe and well," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The news that the United States had rescued the airman whose F-15 fighter jet was shot down in Iran was also confirmed to Reuters by two US officials. The airman was the second crew member of the F-15 that Iran says was shot down by its air defenses on Friday.
