Russia says US should drop 'ultimatum language' toward Iran

Russia on Sunday expressed hope that efforts to de-escalate the Iranian conflict would bear fruit, saying the United States would contribute by "dropping the language of the ultimatum and returning the situation to a negotiating mode."

The Russian Foreign Ministry statement followed talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

In his talks with Araqchi, Lavrov expressed hope that escalation in the Middle East would be prevented.
