At least 10 dead after strike near Gaza school, reports say
At least ten people were killed and several injured in an Israeli air strike near a school in the central Gaza Strip, according to local medics. The incident occurred on Monday in the Maghazi refugee camp, where displaced Palestinians were sheltering.
Witnesses said the strike followed clashes between residents and members of a militia reportedly backed by Israel. According to those accounts, Israeli drones fired two rockets during the unrest. The claims could not be independently verified.
It remained unclear how many of the casualties were civilians. The strike hit a densely populated area hosting displaced people.
On the same day, further Israeli strikes reportedly killed at least two more people, bringing the total death toll to at least 12. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the incidents.
The violence comes despite a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Israel has previously said it continues to target militant activity in Gaza when it identifies immediate threats, while Hamas accuses it of violating the truce.
