Putin Declares Easter Ceasefire in Ukraine War
Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a ceasefire for the Orthodox Easter holidays. It is to be in force from 11 April at 16:00 until the end of 12 April 2026. Russian troops are to halt fighting on all fronts during this period.
The Kremlin also called on Ukraine to join the ceasefire and suspend combat operations. However, the Russian military will remain on standby and is to respond to any attacks or provocations.
Ukraine did not respond immediately. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been proposing an Easter ceasefire for more than a week and has accused Moscow of responding by deploying drones.
