Hezbollah Targets Israel, Strikes Follow in Lebanon
The Israeli military reported a Hezbollah rocket attack that triggered air raid sirens in Tel Aviv. According to Israeli media, the missile was intercepted.
Hezbollah said it had targeted military infrastructure in Haifa. It is not clear whether this refers to the same attack.
Israel responded with a series of strikes on about ten launchers in southern Lebanon. The attacks follow a massive bombardment that reportedly caused hundreds of casualties.
The situation is further complicated by upcoming negotiations between Iran and the US following the recent ceasefire. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has hinted at the possibility of peace talks with Lebanon, but the disarmament of Hezbollah is a precondition. Since the start of the new offensive, fighting has left thousands dead and displaced more than one million people.
