Swedish Man Charged with Rape and Exploitation of Wife
Swedish prosecutors have charged a 62-year-old man with aggravated pimping, assault and multiple counts of rape after he allegedly forced his wife to provide sexual services to more than 120 men.
He was arrested in late October in northern Sweden after his wife reported him to police and has remained in custody since then.
According to the indictment, the man profited for years by coercing his wife into performing sex acts. He created advertisements, arranged and supervised meetings, and forced her to engage in sexual activities online to attract clients. Prosecutors say he also intimidated and threatened her while exploiting her drug addiction.
The prosecution has described the case as "reckless abuse". Authorities have identified about 120 suspected clients. The offences are alleged to have taken place between August 2022 and October 2025.
The man faces eight counts of rape, four counts of attempted rape and four counts of assault. The trial is due to begin on 13 April.
