Zelensky: Ukraine Will Respond to Every Ceasefire Violation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv would respect the Easter ceasefire due to begin on Saturday afternoon, but warned Ukraine would act “symmetrically” if Russia violated it.

He said Ukraine’s actions would depend on whether Russia halted strikes from the air, land and sea, adding that Kyiv would “act accordingly”.

The ceasefire is due to begin at 4 pm Moscow time on Saturday (3 pm CEST) and end at midnight Moscow time on Sunday.

Zelensky posted his position on X as fighting in Ukraine continued even over the holidays. Last year’s Easter ceasefire, ordered by Vladimir Putin, was reportedly accompanied by numerous violations by both sides.
