Trump Claims US Forces Are “Clearing” the Strait of Hormuz
US President Donald Trump said the United States had begun “clearing out” the Strait of Hormuz, claiming Iran’s mine-laying vessels were already “lying at the bottom of the sea”.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that “all 28 of their mine dropper boats” had been sunk and that Washington was now starting to remove sea mines to reopen the waterway.
He argued the effort was being carried out “as a favor to countries all over the world”, including China, Japan, South Korea, France and Germany, and claimed oil tankers from multiple nations were heading to the United States to load crude.
The claims could not be independently verified. The statement came as US and Iranian representatives met in Islamabad, Pakistan, for talks amid a fragile ceasefire.
