Kremlin Says Ceasefire Hinges on Acceptance of Russian Terms
The Kremlin, through spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, reiterated that Russia is seeking a “lasting peace” in Ukraine but has made this conditional on achieving its objectives.
Peskov said the situation could stabilise immediately if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took the decisions demanded by Moscow. Until then, Russian forces will continue military operations.
He added that negotiations are currently on hold, suggesting that the United States is focused on other priorities. Peskov described the Easter ceasefire announced by President Vladimir Putin as a humanitarian gesture towards both sides.
However, he warned that Russian forces must remain on alert for possible provocations and referred to previous allegations that Ukraine had violated ceasefire terms. Kyiv has made similar accusations against Moscow.
