Porn Images Shown to Pupils at Saxony School

A scandal has erupted at a secondary school in the Saxon town of Schleife after explicit pornographic images were shown to ninth-grade pupils during a theatre workshop.

According to available information, the school was not directly responsible for the project, which was carried out by the Socialist Youth of Germany with financial support from the Amadeu Antonio Foundation. The non-profit organisation halted funding after the incident came to light and launched an internal review, Bild reported.

The workshop was stopped on the first day following complaints from parents, who became aware of the content through photos shared in a class chat group. Police have since opened an investigation on suspicion of distributing pornography to minors.

Criticism has also been directed at the school’s management, with parents saying no teacher or social worker was present during the programme.

The Saxon education minister has called for a full investigation and highlighted the responsibility of organisations running projects in schools.
