UNICEF Condemns Killing of Aid Workers in Gaza

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has expressed outrage after Israeli fire killed two truck drivers delivering drinking water to families in the Gaza Strip. The incident occurred during a routine delivery near the Mansoura water bottling station in northern Gaza, which also supplies Gaza City. Two other people were injured.

UNICEF said it had suspended activities at the site and called on Israeli authorities to investigate the incident. The organisation stressed that aid workers, civilians and critical infrastructure, including water facilities, must be protected under international humanitarian law. The Israeli embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

A ceasefire agreed in October between Israel and Hamas ended two years of full-scale war. However, Israeli forces continue to control large, largely depopulated areas of Gaza, while Hamas retains authority in the remaining coastal strip.

According to local medics, more than 750 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire, while armed groups have killed four Israeli soldiers. Both sides accuse each other of violating the truce.
