Trump Says Government to Release New UFO Documents Soon

US President Donald Trump said on Friday that a review of UFO materials had revealed a number of "very interesting" documents.

"We have found a number of very interesting documents and the first disclosures will be coming very, very soon, so you will be able to verify whether this phenomenon is real," Trump said at an event hosted by the conservative organization Turning Point USA.

In February, Trump ordered U.S. authorities to begin releasing government files on unidentified flying objects, so-called unidentified aerial phenomena as well as possible extraterrestrial life. In doing so, he referred to the strong public interest in the subject.

He launched the review after accusing former President Barack Obama of mishandling classified information following his remarks about extraterrestrials. Obama later clarified that he had seen no evidence of contact with extraterrestrials during his tenure.

The Pentagon has investigated reports of UFOs in recent years, but has found no evidence that extraterrestrials have visited Earth. It has explained most sightings as ordinary objects or natural phenomena.
