Attacks Target Russian Oil Infrastructure Near Finnish Border

A fire has broken out at a port facility in Vysotsk, close to St Petersburg and the Finnish border, following reported attacks on energy infrastructure. The blaze has since been extinguished. The port includes a terminal operated by Lukoil used for exporting oil products.

Further attacks were reported in the towns of Syzran and Novokuybyshevsk, approximately 1,800 km south-east of Vysotsk. According to Samara region governor Vyacheslav Fedorishev, industrial facilities were hit, though no specific sites were identified.

Both towns host major oil refineries, which have been repeatedly targeted since the start of the war in Ukraine. The latest incidents appear to form part of an ongoing series of strikes aimed at Russia’s energy infrastructure.
