Trump accuses Iran of ceasefire violations, threatens attacks
US President Donald Trump accused Iran of violating a ceasefire after what he described as a shooting attack on ships in the Strait of Hormuz and warned of further US strikes if Tehran did not accept Washington’s terms.
“We’re offering a very fair and reasonable DEAL, and I hope they take it because, if they don’t, the United States is going to knock out every single Power Plant, and every single Bridge, in Iran”, he wrote on social media.
The strait remains closed after Iran reimposed restrictions following an earlier announcement it would reopen.
Trump said US envoys would continue negotiations and would travel to Pakistan, with talks expected to resume as the current ceasefire nears its expiration.
When asked whether a deal would be reached, he said: “It will happen. One way or another. The nice way or the hard way. It's going to happen. You can quote me.”
ABC News, citing the US ambassador to the United Nations, reported that the delegation to Pakistan would be led by Vice President JD Vance.
After briefly reopening the strait, Iran closed it again following a continued US blockade of Iranian shipping, with vessels reporting gunfire as they attempted to pass. The developments have also affected global markets, with oil prices falling after the initial announcement of the reopening.
