US Sends Vance to Pakistan for Iran Talks

The United States is seeking to accelerate a diplomatic resolution to the conflict with Iran, according to behind-the-scenes information reported by Axios. Vice President JD Vance is expected to travel to Islamabad on Tuesday to begin negotiations on a potential deal.

The ceasefire appears to be fraying, and President Donald Trump has openly threatened to resume strikes on strategic infrastructure in Iran. At the same time, Washington has signalled a willingness to extend negotiations if there is movement.

Behind the scenes, mediators from Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey are playing a key role, pressing Tehran to send a negotiating team.

Iran has been reluctant to engage, according to sources, with the Revolutionary Guards advocating tougher terms and influencing decision-making. Approval from the Supreme Leader was decisive and reportedly came at the last minute.

Other US envoys are also expected to take part in the talks.
