Kallas: EU to Approve €90bn Ukraine Loan Within 24 Hours

The European Union is on the verge of approving significant financial aid for Ukraine, according to EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas. The €90bn loan is expected to be confirmed within 24 hours, following a meeting of foreign ministers in Luxembourg. The move forms part of a broader EU effort to stabilize Kyiv amid the ongoing war with Russia.

Member states have also agreed to tighten sanctions against Iran, with the new measures intended to cover those involved in blocking the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Kallas also called for a reinforcement of the EU's naval mission, which already protects merchant ships from attacks by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea.
