Trump Leaves Iran Without a Deadline as Talks Stall
US President Donald Trump has said he is not demanding a peace proposal from Iran on any firm timetable, effectively extending the ceasefire even as negotiations remain stalled and regional tensions show no sign of easing, CNN reports.
The White House has rejected suggestions that it is unclear who holds ultimate decision-making authority in Tehran, though Iran's internal power structure appears to have grown more complex following US and Israeli strikes.
Tehran has signalled a willingness to negotiate but accuses Washington of imposing port blockades, applying coercion and breaching prior commitments.
The Trump administration is maintaining economic and naval pressure and demanding a unified response from Iran. It also does not regard the detention of two Iranian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz as a ceasefire violation.
