Hegseth Says US Pressure on Iran Is Going Global
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Washington’s blockade measures against Iran are gradually expanding beyond the region and taking on a global dimension. According to him, the strategy is no longer limited to regional pressure but is aimed more broadly at international shipping.
Hegseth said the US Navy controls ship movements through the strategic Strait of Hormuz and argued that vessels cannot sail from there to destinations around the world without US consent.
He also said Tehran had an opportunity to reach a favorable agreement with Washington but failed to seize it. According to available information, US forces have already diverted 34 ships that attempted to pass through the strait.
