California Court Partly Dismisses Musk’s Lawsuit Against OpenAI
A court in California has partially dismissed Elon Musk’s lawsuit against OpenAI and its chief executive Sam Altman. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers rejected the fraud claims Musk had raised in arguing that the company had abandoned its original mission.
The case, however, will continue. The judge allowed further proceedings on claims involving breach of trust and unjust enrichment, meaning the legal dispute between the former partners is far from over.
Jury selection is expected to begin in the coming days.
The broader dispute reflects growing tensions across the artificial intelligence sector, where technological ambitions increasingly collide with legal and ethical questions over how AI organizations are structured and governed.
