Russian State Duma Chairman Arrives in Pyongyang

Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin has arrived in Pyongyang to attend the unveiling of a memorial to North Korean soldiers killed in fighting in Ukraine.

According to North Korean officials, the presence of the Russian delegation reflects gratitude for the deployment of troops sent by Pyongyang to support Russian forces, particularly in the Kursk region. Volodin also thanked leader Kim Jong Un and the North Korean people for their support.

Both sides reaffirmed their intention to deepen cooperation and implement the strategic partnership agreement signed during President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Pyongyang in 2024, which includes a mutual defense commitment.

Relations between Russia and North Korea have strengthened significantly since 2023, especially in military cooperation.
