Ukrainian Drone Damages Fertilizer Plant in Russia
A fertilizer plant in Russia’s Vologda region was damaged in a Ukrainian drone strike, local governor Georgy Filimonov said.
He said infrastructure at the Apatit facility, owned by PhosAgro, one of the world’s largest producers of phosphate fertilizers, had been hit.
A high-pressure sulphuric acid pipeline was struck in the attack. Authorities said the leak was quickly contained and that no hazardous substances were released into the surrounding area. Five people were injured.
The incident is the latest in a series of attacks targeting industrial infrastructure in Russia amid the ongoing conflict with Ukraine. Authorities said the situation in the region is being monitored and security forces are investigating the circumstances.
