Sultan of Oman Meets Araqchi as Mediation Efforts Continue
Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in Muscat, the country’s state news agency reported.
According to available information, the talks focused on recent regional developments and mediation efforts aimed at ending the war in Iran, which was launched by the United States and Israel at the end of February.
Oman has long acted as a neutral mediator and has played a key role in diplomatic contacts between Tehran and Western countries. The Sultanate’s embassy in Geneva hosted the last round of nuclear negotiations before the outbreak of the conflict.
The meeting comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and ongoing diplomatic contacts between the United States and Iran. Muscat has repeatedly served as an important channel for indirect negotiations, particularly on nuclear and regional security issues.
In recent weeks, several rounds of direct talks between US and Iranian officials have collapsed, while hostilities have resumed, according to regional reports.
