Israel Orders Evacuations in Lebanon, Warns of Action Against Hezbollah
The Israeli military has called on residents of seven villages in southern Lebanon, north of the Litani River, to evacuate, warning of possible action against Hezbollah following alleged violations of a recently extended ceasefire.
Military spokesperson Avichai Adrai said in a statement addressed to Arabic-speaking audiences that further action was inevitable in response to repeated breaches of the agreement by Shiite militants.
The evacuation orders come despite a ceasefire that has been in place since 17 April and was extended by three weeks following an announcement by US President Donald Trump.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier instructed the military to respond after Israeli sources reported several attacks by Hezbollah. Both sides have accused each other of violating the ceasefire.
