Iran in "State of Collapse", Trump Claims
US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran is in a "state of collapse" and has appealed to the United States to reopen the Strait of Hormuz while it resolves its internal leadership situation.
"Iran has just informed us that they are in a 'State of Collapse'. They want us to 'Open the Hormuz Strait' as soon as possible, as they try to figure out their leadership situation", Trump wrote on Truth Social.
It is not clear from the post how Iran conveyed this message to the US. Tehran did not immediately comment on the remarks, and the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
According to a US administration official, Trump is not satisfied with the latest Iranian proposal to resolve the two-month-old conflict. The development dims hopes for a quick end to the fighting, which has disrupted energy supplies, contributed to rising inflation and caused thousands of casualties.
