Acting US Ambassador to Ukraine Julie Davis to Leave Post in June

Acting US Ambassador to Ukraine Julie Davis has announced that she will leave her post in Kyiv in June 2026 and retire from the Foreign Service at the same time, as US-brokered ceasefire talks between Russia and Ukraine remain stalled.

The Financial Times reported that the decision may be linked to disagreements over President Donald Trump’s policies and frustration over weakening US support for Ukraine.

Her predecessor, former ambassador Bridget Brink, also resigned over differences with Trump’s approach to the war in Ukraine.

The US State Department rejected that interpretation, saying Davis supported the administration’s efforts to secure a lasting peace.

The veteran diplomat has served in the Foreign Service for more than 30 years. She took over the post in Kyiv in May 2025 after Brink stepped down.
