Spanish PM's Wife Files Complaint Against Influencer
The wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has filed a criminal complaint against an activist and influencer for allegedly assaulting her during an incident at a Madrid café.
According to reports, Vito Quiles confronted Begona Gomez with questions about a corruption case before following her into the street. A video posted on social media shows him approaching her and continuing to question her until two women intervened and allowed her to get into a taxi.
Gomez is facing a separate investigation over allegations that she used her position to obtain contracts. She denies the accusations, and the prosecutor's office this month asked for that case to be dropped.
Quiles did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Both government and opposition People's Party leaders have condemned his behavior, though opposition spokeswoman Ester Muñoz said the influencer was "also a victim" of the women who obstructed his access.
The complaint is one of several corruption-related cases linked to the prime minister. Witnesses are also testifying this week in the trial against his former transport minister, and a witness in a separate case claimed Sanchez knew about the bribes, an allegation his party denied.
