Katz: Iran Is Weakened, Israel May Act Soon
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz has said Israel may soon be forced to intervene militarily against Iran again, while currently supporting US diplomatic efforts. The goal, he said, is to ensure that Tehran ceases to pose a threat to Israel and the wider international community.
According to the Times of Israel, Katz said Iran has been noticeably weakened over the past year. He stressed the coordination between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who are working to achieve strategic goals without further escalation, while warning that Israel retains the option to act if diplomacy fails.
The remarks come shortly after Katz spoke last week of his readiness to continue the war. Tensions have persisted despite a ceasefire in place since 8 April, which the US extended to make way for peace talks.
