Man Charged Over Stabbing of Jewish Men in North London

British authorities said on Friday that a 45-year-old man is being prosecuted in connection with a knife attack that injured two Jewish men in north London. The incident took place earlier in the week in the Golders Green area.

Police said Essa Suleiman faces two counts of attempted murder and one count of possessing a knife in a public place. A further charge relates to a separate incident on the same day in south London.

The suspect remains in custody and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later on Friday.

One of the victims, a 34-year-old man, has been released from hospital, while a 76-year-old man remains in a stable condition.

Following the attack, authorities raised the terror threat level to the second highest setting, indicating that another attack is considered highly likely within the next six months. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has pledged stricter measures to protect the Jewish community.

The government warned that security risks are increasing and coming from multiple directions. Police added that the suspect has a history of violence and mental health problems.
