Zelensky Rejects One-Day Ceasefire, Eyes EU Membership

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected a proposal for a one-day ceasefire in the war with Russia, dismissing it as "not serious".

Zelensky said Ukraine had not received any official proposal, although the Kremlin had raised the possibility of a ceasefire on 9 May following talks with the US.

Following a meeting with European Council President Antonio Costa, Zelensky said Ukraine was technically ready to open negotiations in all six areas of the EU accession process in the coming months.
