Hungary Returns Seized Cash and Gold to Ukraine

Hungary has returned cash and gold belonging to Ukraine's state-owned Oschadbank, which had been seized by Budapest's security service in March, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on Wednesday. "I am grateful to Hungary for its constructive approach and civilized step", he wrote on X.

Hungarian authorities had seized around $82m in cash and gold from two Ukrainian bank vehicles, which Ukraine said were carrying out legitimate transfers from Austria. Budapest returned the vehicles in March but retained the cash and gold at the time.
