Majority of Hungarians Want Orban on Trial, Poll Shows
A new opinion poll in Hungary points to a significant political shift, according to index.hu. The Tisza party would win up to 61% of the vote in the event of new elections, while the long-ruling Fidesz party would fall to 21%.
The results also show strong support for Tisza leader Peter Magyar, whom up to 72% of respondents consider a suitable prime minister.
Public sentiment toward incumbent Prime Minister Viktor Orban appears increasingly critical. Some 59% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with his performance and around two thirds would support holding him legally accountable in court, including one eighth of his own party's voters.
The poll also suggests growing optimism about the country's direction, with 63% of respondents giving it a positive assessment.
Magyar responded to the results on X, writing: "I have no words. Unprecedented numbers, unprecedented responsibility."
