Trump Says Iran Wants Talks, Vows to Get Uranium

Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Iran wanted to negotiate and reach a deal with the United States, adding that talks were going well.

Trump said at a White House event: “We’re doing very well in Iran. It’s going very smoothly, and we’ll see what happens. They want to make a deal, they want to negotiate.”

“We’re dealing with people that want to make a deal very much, and we’ll see whether or not they can make a deal that’s satisfactory to us”, Trump said.

Iran said it was reviewing a new US proposal on Wednesday, after sources said Washington and Tehran were closing in on a one-page memorandum to end the war in the Gulf while leaving complex issues such as Iran’s nuclear program for later.

Trump also said the United States would obtain enriched uranium from Iran.

“We will get it”, he said.

One of Trump’s main goals in launching military strikes against Iran was to ensure that Tehran did not develop nuclear weapons. Iran has not yet handed over roughly 408 kg of highly enriched uranium.
