Iran Sends Response to US War Proposal Through Pakistan
Iran has sent its response to a US proposal aimed at ending more than two months of war, the state news agency IRNA reported. The plan at the current stage focuses on ending the fighting, with Pakistan acting as mediator in the conflict.
The US plan initially seeks to halt the fighting and create conditions for further negotiations. According to Axios, the proposal would require Iran to pause uranium enrichment. In return, Washington would gradually lift sanctions and release some of Iran’s frozen funds.
The deal would also include the resumption of safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic route that carried about a fifth of the world’s oil trade before the war.
According to Axios, several key US commitments would take effect only after a final peace agreement.
The conflict began on 28 February after US and Israeli attacks on Iran, to which Tehran later responded with strikes of its own.
