Modi Urges Indians to Save Fuel as Energy Prices Strain Reserves
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged citizens and businesses to conserve fuel and revive work-from-home practices to cut petrol and diesel consumption, as a surge in global energy prices weighs on the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
Modi said people and businesses should make greater use of working from home and online meetings, practices widely adopted during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, because doing so would benefit the country.
He said high global fuel prices meant India had to conserve foreign exchange by using less petrol and diesel.
