Starmer Under Pressure as Labour Revolt Grows

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing the most serious challenge to his leadership since taking charge of the Labour Party, with at least 66 MPs openly calling on him to resign as party leader and prime minister.

Tensions have risen sharply following Labour's poor performance in the local elections, which a section of the party has described as a political disaster.

A coordinated rebellion is reportedly being prepared behind the scenes, with rebels planning to formally call on Starmer to resign as early as Tuesday morning. Starmer has said he will not quit and intends to press ahead with his reform agenda.

His position is being further undermined by the resignations of parliamentary secretaries and growing support for potential successors, notably Andy Burnham and Wes Streeting. The party appears to be heading into a deep internal crisis.
