Russian Drone Strike on Kryvyi Rih Kills Two
A Russian drone strike on the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih killed two people and injured four others, including a nine-month-old girl who lost part of her leg, regional officials said on Monday evening.
Russian forces attacked Kryvyi Rih in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region with what local authorities said was a Shahed-type drone. The strike struck a residential building, causing a fire, according to regional and city officials.
“Two people were killed. The enemy attacked Kryvyi Rih”, Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the regional military administration, said after the attack.
Emergency services later extinguished the fire while authorities assessed the extent of the damage.
Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city’s military administration, said the drone struck a residential house directly. The victims were identified as a 43-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman.
Among the injured was a nine-month-old girl who suffered severe wounds.
“The little nine-month-old girl’s leg was blown off. She was evacuated by ambulance to the hospital where she is receiving all the necessary help”, Vilkul said.
Hanzha later stated that the child had been admitted to intensive care in serious condition.
A 23-year-old woman was hospitalized with moderate injuries. Two other women, aged 45 and 74, received outpatient treatment.
Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, has frequently been targeted by Russian missile and drone attacks since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
