Lavrov Says Russia-US Relations Show No Real Progress

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that despite positive rhetoric about the potential for improved relations between Russia and the United States, there has been no tangible progress.

In an interview with RT India, Lavrov said there had been encouraging statements about cooperation in areas such as technology and energy, but no concrete outcomes so far. He added that Russia nonetheless welcomed the resumption of dialogue following US President Donald Trump’s return to office.

Trump has repeatedly pledged to end the war in Ukraine after winning the 2024 presidential election, but peace efforts have yet to produce results.

Lavrov also noted that sanctions imposed during the Biden administration remain in place. He said the Trump administration has introduced additional measures targeting the Russian economy.
