Trump: Russian Attack on Kyiv May Complicate Peace Talks

US President Donald Trump has said that the latest Russian missile attack on a residential building in Kyiv could undermine efforts to bring peace to Ukraine, after the strike killed 24 people, including three children, according to Ukrainian authorities.

Speaking on his return from China, Trump said that until recently negotiations to end the war had looked promising, but that recent events had complicated the situation. He added that he had discussed the conflict with Chinese President Xi Jinping and that both leaders agreed on the need to end the fighting.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for harsh sanctions against Moscow after visiting the destroyed building.

Meanwhile, Russia announced that four people, including a child, had been killed in a Ukrainian drone strike on the town of Ryazan. Both sides continue to accuse each other of attacking civilian targets, while saying they do not deliberately target civilians.
