Iran Announces New Shipping Regime for Strait of Hormuz

Tehran is preparing a mechanism to manage shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz along a designated route. Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian parliament's security committee, said on Saturday that its introduction is expected in the near future.

According to Azizi, only merchant ships and entities cooperating with Iran will be able to use the system. The mechanism will also include the collection of fees for specialized services provided under the new regime.
