EU Targets Iranian Revolutionary Guards Network

The European Police Agency Europol coordinated a major international operation targeting online propaganda linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. Security forces from 19 countries, including Germany, France, and the United States, reviewed more than 14,000 online posts connected to the organization, FinanzNachrichten reported.

The aim of the operation was to curb the spread of propaganda, recruitment efforts and fundraising activity carried out via the internet.

The operation was led by Europol’s EU Internet Referral Unit, with authorities cooperating from February to the end of April. The propaganda was distributed in several languages, including English, Arabic and Spanish.

The European Union designated the Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization in February 2026, enabling a more intensive crackdown on its activities within member states.

Media coverage also included warnings of a possible global energy and food crisis due to tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and rising commodity prices.
