German Intelligence Warns of Iran Terror Threat

German counter-intelligence has warned that Iran could intensify intelligence and terrorist operations in Europe after the end of its war with Israel and the United States, with Jewish and Israeli institutions, Iranian dissidents and other regime opponents seen as potential targets.

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution said it was investigating cases of people living in Germany who had traveled to Iran for military training or had “put themselves at the service” of the authorities there. The agency said Tehran was prepared to use methods of state terrorism, ranging from threats and surveillance to preparations for attacks.

According to Euractiv, dozens of people have left Germany for Iran and later worked for the regime. Among them were two men from Hamburg who appeared in a propaganda video by the Basij militia while holding submachine guns.

German authorities have also warned about Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia (HAYI), a pro-Iranian group suspected of recruiting young people and petty criminals through Telegram and Snapchat for low-cost attacks on synagogues, schools and community centers in Europe since March 2026.
