The death of Giorgio Armani raises questions about the future of his fashion empire

Giorgio Armani has passed away at the age of 91, and the fate of one of the last independent fashion empires now lies in the hands of his relatives, writes the Bloomberg portal.

The brand's founder, who had avoided joining luxury groups such as LVMH or Kering throughout his life, entrusted its management to his confidants—Lea Dell'Orco, his nieces Silvana and Roberta, and his nephew Andrea Camerano.

The company promises to remain true to his spirit of independence, but does not rule out an IPO or the sale of a minority stake.

Armani himself said in 2024 that he would leave the future of the brand to his successors.

In recent years, the brand has also expanded into the real estate and restaurant sectors, but is facing a decline in demand in China and has been in court on suspicion of exploiting workers.

Despite his advanced age, Armani remained active until the end, his style and vision shaping modern Italian elegance.
