Russian ship crippled by Ukrainian attack near Novorossiysk
On Wednesday, the Ukrainian military intelligence service (DIU) struck a ship belonging to the Russian Black Sea Fleet near Novorossiysk.
This was reported by the newspaper Ukrajinska Prawda, citing the DIU.
The target was the ship's bridge, where the navigation and communications equipment was located.
According to the DIU, this also disabled the electronic systems, rendering the ship inoperable.
The ship that was hit is a multi-purpose rescue vessel of the MPSV07 type, built in 2015 and worth around $60 million.
Russia has only four of these units, which are equipped with sonar, reconnaissance technology, and diving equipment.
At the time of the attack, the ship was conducting electronic reconnaissance in the area of Novorossiysk Bay, where the remnants of the Russian fleet had been relocated.
