Thousands of people marched in Berlin and Cologne against abortion
On Saturday, Germany held its March for Life, which attracted thousands of anti-abortion protesters to Berlin and Cologne, according to the website Katholisch.de.
According to police, around 2,200 people took part in Berlin, while organizers put the figure at up to 4,000. In Cologne, police reported around 1,200 participants, while organizers said there were up to three thousand.
The demonstrators carried banners with slogans such as “Abortion is injustice” and “Human dignity knows no age.” The action was also supported by some of the Catholic bishops, who gave their blessing to the participants.
The protests were accompanied by counter-demonstrations, and in some places blockades were erected that had to be broken up by the police.
