Drones near Copenhagen Airport controlled by “skilled operator,” says police

On Monday evening, Copenhagen Airport was temporarily closed after three large drones were spotted in the vicinity.

Danish police said the drones were likely controlled by a “skilled operator” who wanted to demonstrate his abilities.

The drones were moving from several directions. It is unclear who was controlling them. The incident is being investigated; so far, there is no connection to a similar incident in Norway.

According to the police, there was no danger to human safety. Once the airspace was secured, the airport resumed operations, but there were delays.

About 31 flights had to be canceled or diverted, affecting around 20,000 passengers. Operations were suspended for several hours starting at 8:30 p.m. local time.
