US presents peace plan for Gaza, Europe discusses post-war period

The United States has presented a 21-point peace plan for the Middle East in order to achieve a breakthrough in the Gaza conflict. President Donald Trump presented it to the leaders of several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt, during the UN General Assembly.

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff expressed hope that an agreement could be announced soon. Meanwhile, fighting continues in Gaza, with the Israeli army intensifying its attacks, killing at least 50 people, mostly civilians, on Wednesday alone.

Hamas warned that an expansion of Israeli operations would endanger the lives of the hostages, while Israel called on the population to rise up against Hamas and distance themselves from it.

Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the efforts of some Western countries, such as France and Britain, to recognize a Palestinian state. At the same time, European countries are preparing a stabilization initiative for the post-war period.

The situation in Gaza is critical: the population is suffering from hunger and massive displacement.
