The richest man in history. Elon Musk surpasses $500 billion and is heading toward $1 trillion
Elon Musk is the first person whose fortune has exceeded the $500 billion mark. According to the Forbes ranking, he reached this milestone thanks to the rise in Tesla's share price, which gained nearly four percent on Wednesday. This increased the value of his stake to $191 billion.
The entrepreneur also owns an extensive options package from 2018 worth over $130 billion, the validity of which is currently being reviewed by a court in Delaware. In addition to Tesla, other sources of his wealth include SpaceX, which is valued at $400 billion and in which he holds a 42 percent stake, and the new company xAI Holdings, which he has linked to the X platform. His stake in it is estimated at around $60 billion.
Musk's financial career is unprecedented – in 2020, he had less than $25 billion, but today he is $150 billion ahead of second-placed Larry Ellison.
If growth continues, he could become the first trillionaire before 2033. However, Musk emphasizes that he does not view Tesla's compensation packages as personal wealth, but as a tool that gives him influence over the future of Tesla and its technologies, including robotics and artificial intelligence.
