Cargo plane hits patrol car in Hong Kong – two dead

Two Hong Kong airport security officers were killed when a Boeing 747 cargo plane arriving from Dubai veered off the runway during landing and struck their patrol vehicle.

The aircraft, operated by Turkish company ACT Airlines on behalf of Emirates, came to a partial halt in the sea after the collision. All four crew members survived.

According to airport authorities, the patrol vehicle was outside the actual runway and was not moving in the landing area. However, the aircraft suddenly veered to the left after landing, leading to the collision.

Air traffic records show no prior distress call from the pilot. This is the most serious incident at Hong Kong Airport in more than 25 years.
